Tech3 Racing Team rider Xavi Vierge will commence his home Grand Prix from the fourth row of the grid after producing a spirited display in qualifying today. The young Spaniard immediately built up his speed before powering to a top lap time that was eventually 0.283 back from the second row. He aimed to continue his climb, yet an unfortunate crash on the last lap halted his progress. Nevertheless, he will aim to seal a top ten finish in the sprint tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Remy Gardner experienced a challenging day in Spain despite his best efforts and he will begin from the ninth row. However, the young Australian and his team made advances in the session today, and tomorrow he aims to battle his way through the field to close the weekend solidly.
Position: 11th - Time: 1'50.554 - Laps: 10
“The team and I did some good work and we certainly improved so now, I am looking forward to the race. During the qualifying, I was pushing hard as I was trying to make another step forward, but I, unfortunately, crashed on the final lap. Anyway, I am happy with the result because this track has been difficult for us, so to qualify 11th is positive. Tomorrow is the most important day so we will see what happens in the race, but I am ready."
Position: 26th - Time: 1'51.270 - Laps: 15
“The weekend has been very tricky for us so far but tomorrow is another day. The bike setup was not brilliant ahead of qualifying this afternoon, but we found a bit of a step during the session. Of course, it wasn’t a great time to try new things because I had to go out and learn the new setting and it’s limits, but it helped. Anyway, in the final exit, I was half a second quicker than my personal best, but I got held up in the last sector. This was a shame because I could have finished six or seven places higher if this didn’t happen. We will have to see how the race goes, but I will do my best like always."
