Tech3 Racing Team rider Xavi Vierge fought nonstop at the British Grand Prix to seize 12th aboard the Mistral 610. The young Spaniard undertook a rocket start and leapt up to 8th by the close of the first lap after beginning from 13th on the grid. He then stuck into a solid rhythm and remained in the tightly contested second group for the entire sprint. Vierge pushed right until the end to earn the strong finish, which leaves him fully confident for the next round in San Marino.

Meanwhile, Remy Gardner concluded the gruelling 12th round of the championship in 20th. The Australian rookie leapt forward from the head of the seventh row of the grid and quickly began his charge. He plugged away throughout the 18-lap sprint before meeting the chequered flag in 20th despite his best efforts.

Position: 12th - Championship: 11th - Points: 55

Vierge - 2017“This race result was positive after the hard weekend that we have had at Silverstone with the traction. I finished thirteen seconds back from the winner and only three from the top five, which is pleasing and I pushed throughout the race. The end result is satisfying and I am also happy for the team because they worked so hard to try and amend the issue that we had, and they did it in the right way. Now we will study the data to try and find some more improvements for the next event.“

Position: 20th - Championship: 22nd - Points: 14

Gardner - 2017“I can’t hide my disappointment about this race. The first couple of laps went well, and the bike felt good so I felt positive about my chances. Yet, after about five laps, the rear tyre dropped and I couldn’t open the throttle, plus I struggled with the front as well. It was a really long GP and very challenging but I did what I could. I am not happy but hopefully, we can come back stronger in Misano and have a more successful time."

“Great race by Xavi Vierge and we are happy about his start and the pace that he ran. Unfortunately, he ended up at the back of the group that he was fighting in, which was from 5th to 12th. Yet, the pack was tight and very competitive so it shows that we are at the right level because we could have finished in any position up to 5th today. I want to thank Xavi for his efforts, and even though 12th is not a big reward, he was there and he pushed like always. We can see that we have a bit more work to do but everyone is happy and it was a positive weekend for him. On the other side of the garage, the highlight of the weekend was 6th for Remy in FP3. We were pleased when he told us that he found something good at the test in Austria. Therefore everyone was confident and the FP3 result showed promise. However, after that, his qualifying position was very average, but he got a good start at the beginning of the race. Yet, unfortunately, he didn’t progress as the GP advanced and this is not the way to go. I am disappointed but we know that Remy has potential, yet at the moment, things are not going in the way that we want them to. Let’s see what happens at the next round in Misano and I hope he can deliver there."
