Gardner closes Mugello account with solid point scoring finish

Remy Gardner powered to 14th in the gruelling Italian Grand Prix today to clinch his first World Championship points of 2017 aboard the Mistral 610. The young Australian began the sprint from 11th on the grid and quickly set into a firm rhythm as he diced with the vastly experienced opponents. He valiantly fought all the way to the chequered flag to seal the finish and positively close the weekend in Tuscany.

Meanwhile, Xavi Vierge sat out the Grand Prix today after following the doctor's advice to rest due to having minor breathing problems as a result of a heavy fall in qualifying. The young rider took the precautionary decision but will seek to bounce back at his home Grand Prix next week. The Tech3 team would like to wish him a speedy recovery.

Vierge to sit out Italian Grand Prix

Xavi Vierge - 2017Tech3 Racing Team rider Xavi Vierge will not participate in the Italian Grand Prix today due to the doctor's recommendation to sit out the race after a heavy crash in qualifying yesterday. The young Spaniard was discharged from hospital last night and returned to the paddock, yet his fall caused him to suffer with minor breathing difficulties, which could hamper his performance in the race. The decision for Vierge to rest was made in order for him to be at full strength for his home Grand Prix at Catalunya next week. The entire Tech3 team would like to wish Xavi a speedy recovery.

Gardner to bolt forward from 11th – Vierge uninjured and ready to fight

Remy Gardner produced a solid performance in the Italian GP qualifying shootout to seize a notable fourth row start for the 21-lap sprint. The young Australian got on the pace immediately but an unfortunate crash late on in the session halted any further progress. Nevertheless, tomorrow he will seek to seize his first championship points of the year aboard the Mistral 610.

Meanwhile, Xavi Vierge endured a challenging day whereby he suffered a fall at the 12th turn in the early stages of the afternoon session. The young Spaniard was then taken to the medical centre but escaped without any major injuries. His personal best, which he set on his second lap, put him in 22nd on the grid and tomorrow he will seek to bounce back from the tricky affair today.

Solid start for Gardner in Italy – Focused Vierge fully confident of improving

Tech3 Racing Team rider Remy Gardner conducted a positive performance at the breathtaking Mugello circuit to end up in 14th at the close of day one. The young Australian’s personal best saw him finish just over a second from the front as he confidently aims to continue his progress tomorrow. Whilst Xavi Vierge produced a tireless effort at the meandering track to end up only 0.173 behind his teammate. Both riders keenly await the qualifying shootout tomorrow where they will fight for two strong grid positions for Sunday’s race.
