Determined Vierge straight on the pace in Le Mans

Xavi Vierge made a highly positive start to proceedings on day one of the Tech3 Racing Team’s home Grand Prix in Le Mans. The young Spaniard immediately got up to speed in the dry morning practice, which he concluded in 6th and just 0.192 back from 3rd. In the afternoon, the wet weather arrived but Vierge powered through and finished FP2 in 6th once again, which leaves him confident for any future rain-affected sessions. Meanwhile, Remy Gardner took some encouraging steps forward today in France as he bounces back from his ankle injury. The young Australian completed the afternoon practice in 26th after producing a confidence boosting performance in the wet and tomorrow he intends to make a further step up aboard the Mistral 610.

Resolute Tech3 duo persevere to finish tricky Spanish GP

Tech3 Racing Team rider Remy Gardner pushed through the pain to complete his first Moto2 race of the year as he bravely finished the challenging round four fight in 22nd despite his heavily injured ankle. The young Australian began from the head of the tenth row of the grid and progressed throughout the race before he met the chequered flag, as he showed admirable determination. Meanwhile, Xavi Vierge’s hopes of a strong finish in front of his home fans were cruelly cut short after he was involved in a multi-rider collision at turn six on the second lap whilst dicing near the front of the field. After the incident, the Spanish rider returned to the pits and rejoined the race but he was eventually forced to retire on the 16th lap.

Rapid Vierge equals best qualifying result today in Jerez – Gardner remains determined despite tough day

Xavi Vierge produced a mature and impressive display today as he set his fastest time on his third lap which sealed a starting position at the front of the third row of the grid. The temperature increased as the session progressed and this affected the grip levels, but the young Spaniard’s early time saw him qualify only 0.354 back from the head of the second row. Tomorrow he intends to fight to a fourth consecutive top ten finish this year in front of his home crowd. Whilst the injured Remy Gardner endured a challenging day in Andalucía after falling twice in the hot 45-minute practice. The young Australian’s qualifying performance will see him start from the 10th row of the grid as he resolutely looks on to tomorrow.

Superb start to Home GP for Vierge – Gardner powers through the pain

Xavi Vierge kick-started the round four fight by speeding to 3rd at the end of the opening day of action in Andalucía. Rain soaked the track in the morning practice, but Vierge battled against the tricky conditions to finish 7th. Then, in the afternoon, the asphalt dried and the Spaniard built up his pace before setting his personal best as the chequered flag dropped. Meanwhile, Remy Gardner, who is bravely contesting the Spanish Grand Prix despite still suffering from a severe ankle injury, produced a valiant effort to complete the second practice in 29th.
