The Red Bull KTM Tech3 Moto2 rookie duo of Marco Bezzecchi and Philipp Öttl started on a good way into the third weekend of the 2019 season at the Texan Circuit of the Americas today. Following a learning session in FP1, Bezzecchi upped his pace by 1.352 seconds this afternoon in order to finish well inside the top 20.

On the other side of the Red Bull KTM Tech3 garage, Öttl also went 1.02 seconds fasters in FP2 compared to his first intermediate class session this morning to conclude day one in P25. Both, Bezzecchi and Öttl can’t wait to be back on the demanding COTA tomorrow for FP3 at 10.55 local time (17.55 CET).

Marco Bezzecchi

Position: 19th

Time: 2:11.910

Laps: 26

"We started already with a good base of setting and riding today, but I was missing a bit of confidence in braking. Now in FP2 I was able to make a big step, I was close to the fastest KTM rider, which is a good sign. I still struggle in some parts, but not too many. We are close to Q2, which is important. Tomorrow we have to wait and see what the weather is doing, but overall we are happy and know we need to continue this way."

Philipp Öttl

Position: 25th

Time: 1:13.637

Laps: 26

"I think today we made a small step in the right direction, though we still need to adapt the setup of the bike a bit in order to make it work even better and then we will see what happens. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow, I’m sure it’s going to be an interesting day, also regarding the weather."
