Xavi Vierge got straight up to speed in front of his home fans as he finished the first day in 10th overall and only 0.554 back from the top. The young Spaniard aims to continue the momentum tomorrow and then deliver another notable result on Sunday in order to close his time with the Tech3 Racing Team in a highly positive way.

Meanwhile, Remy Gardner took the initial steps in preparing for Sunday’s race, which he seeks to close with a solid performance. Today, the young Australian rookie completed FP1 in 15th but finished the day in 17th in the combined standings, and three-tenths of a second behind his teammate. Tomorrow he has his sights set on unlocking his potential with a strong display in qualifying.

Xavi Vierge

Position: 10th - Time: 1'36.356 - Laps: 38

Vierge - 2017“It was a positive first day here in Valencia. We did a lot of work with the new tyre because Dunlop brought the number 2 compound for this circuit, however, now we have a slight issue with chatter. Anyway, both sessions were productive so we will try to find some small improvements for tomorrow in order to have a successful qualifying. Thanks to the team for their work and I’m already excited to get back on the track.“

Remy Gardner

Position: 17th - Time: 1'36.621 - Laps: 39

Gardner - 2017“The first day was decent for me but I am confident that we can have a better time tomorrow. I struggled a bit with the turning of the bike, and we are working really hard to fix that. In all honesty, I am slightly disappointed with FP2 because I was riding a solid time, but I ran wide at turn 12 which ruined the lap. Anyway, this was unfortunate, yet, it’s not the race. Tomorrow is qualifying and I am sure that we can find a good setting in FP3 and then be as ready as possible in the afternoon."
